The Chronicles of Reginald Fustibar Rugglesby, Esquire.
(This is the play log for my new character, Reginald. Reggie is a tribute to a favorite tabletop character, a Victorian-era taxidermist gone slightly askew and turned Great White Hunter. I've had a lot of Summoners killed by Floating Eyes because they had to be in berzerk mode to hit anything, so I'm creating Reggie as a Gnomish (for free action ) Summoner, worshipping Eru Illuvatar. 98 quests, all monsters on.)
(Reggie starts out with Str 10, Int 10, Wis 11, Dex 13, Con 11, Chr 9. Final stats are 15/15/15/17/16/9.)
Day 0 - Setting Boldly Forth, What?
Polishing my taxidermy display cabinet when a great earthquake rolled in from the north, tipping it over onto my wife Lillian, crushing her. What's worse, most of my stuffed creatures were destroyed in the fall, even Musky, my prize stuffed muskrat - a terrible blow. By Eru, that's enough! Lost wife, lost Musky, nothing for it but to head off on safari to deal with that blighter Morgoth once and for all, what? Those pits he's digging are clearly a menace to stuffed muskrats everywhere. Digging through the attic, I find my trusty old short sword, 'Harold', which I carried in the regiment, and a leather suit I put together long ago out of scraps left over from working on Musky. Ah, the smell brings back such memories... No time for that now. We're off!
Day 1 - Arrival in Bree
Townsfolk seem quite pleasant and lively, especially Farmer Maggot - someone ought to do something about those dogs, what? Perhaps I'll give the chap a hand later. First things first, though - if I'm to do some serious Morgoth-overthrowing I'll need more equipment than just Harold here, despite his keen edge. Eru seemed rather put out with me for carrying Harold around so reluctantly traded him for whip, the better to command the dumb brutes. Immediately dubbed whip 'Harold II'. Also purchased a shortbow, which I'm calling 'Sydney', but not sure how much good it will do as am not a terribly good shot. Still, it's fun to shoot, what? Also got pair of hard boots and a metal cap, and am feeling quite regimental once more. Now, off to see about some lodgings.
Day 1 - Later
Hah! Serves you right, you ruffians! I had no sooner knocked on the door of a pleasant little cottage to ask about possible lodgings when I was struck upon the back of the head and knocked cold! Luckily for myself the bandits forgot to latch the door properly and once I awoke I was able to recover my equipment. After a bit of a scuffle, my screaming-and-bashing technique proved superior to their more cautious backstabbing-and-running-away one. City authorities apparrently quite pleased with my defeat of the ruffians and have offered me lodgings in their former abode, which I graciously accepted. Decorated foyer with stuffed novice rogue as conversation piece. Lillian was always interested in decorating the house; if only she could see me now. Also obtained stuffed novice warrior to help me on my travels. Now, off to the swamps to the south to skewer some defenseless woodland creatures and stuff them in preparation for, er, skewering larger creatures and stuffing them, I imagine.

Day 1 - A Bit Later
Have discovered potential problem with aforesaid skewering and stuffing plan, namely, my usual strategy for killing creatures involves a lot of screaming and hacking at them wildly. Harold turning out quite useful in this endeavor. However, this does not often leave much of a corpse left to stuff. Will have to work on less hacking and more skewering neatly. Still quite a bit of fun, what? Almost takes my mind off of Lillian and poor Musky. Warrior regiment killed lizardman; promoted most heroic of them to lieutennant and kept him around. Was sad to see him die in confronation with lizard king. Gained experience quite fast once I obtained an army of red nagas.

Day 3 - Barrow-Downs
Obtained a well-crafted trophy made of a lizardman's head. Decided it was time to venture into the so-called Barrow Downs. Almost immediately ran into damsel in distress. White harpies menacing poor girl were no match for me after my extended swamp safari, and I was rewarded with a magical cap of some sort. Proceeded further down, where another maiden was being assaulted by some sort of disembodied hand. Warily, my enormous army of lizardmen hacked it to pieces. Recieved gauntlets.
Later: Many adventures, none of them terribly threatening. Recovered sword for fumblefingered adventurer from pseudodragons - lizardmen oddly reticent to kill them, which was something of a quandary when they kept blinding me. Still, eventually managed to butcher them all after chasing them through many trees. Really ought to have pith helmet. Adventurer taught me a bit about Sneakiness; never had much use for it before, but now that I'm on safari I'd best learn how to stalk, what? Headed back to Bree.

Day 3 - Bree
By Eru! To my joy, discovered princesses' gifts were a Metal Cap of the Noldor [3, +4] (+1) and the Set of Gauntlets 'Paurnen' [2, +15]. Wish I could thank them again for such thoughtfulness. Reequipped and went to sleep. Must be fresh in morning. An alert hunter is a safe hunter, and I'll have to have all my wits about me to have a shot at The Big One.
