ToME plyer for maybe a year now. Several wins, a couple of ultra wins but unlikely to ever bother again; the Void and Nether realm just bore me. Enjoying finding out about the odd corners of the game I missed on first pass, through the DitL LearningCompetition.

Just ran a mindcrafter through Gerband - interesting, and I hope that the town quests will be further fleshed out. I liked the multiple eternity dungeons, even if the Eternity items were of limited use! {If only that crossbow didn't have an anti-magic shell..}. Oh, and why no museums/mathom-houses?

Oook will not accept Gerband, yet, btw.

Oh, also: the ranger's forest had Angband quests, so that I didn't have to do them in Angband (although the FF for master Qs which I skipped was there again!); I assume that this is a bug?

CosmicGerbil Hey, I'm glad to see you beat Gerband :D Your character is cool. Just thought I'd post up to answer some of the questions/bugs.

I have added 3 new quests to the latest version of Gerband I am working on (version 1.1.0). It should be released within the next week, hopefully.

Glad you liked the eternity dungeons, but I did not know the Crossbow had an anti magic shell. This is bad, because it's of no use to a ranger :( I'll fix that.

I'll also E-mail the dude on Oook, and see about getting Gerband on there. That would be cool :D

I forgot about the museums/mathom houses, I took them out ages ago, and forgot to re implement them. I'll put them back in for version 1.1.0

I don't think quests in the Ranger forest is a bug. I think all the four main dungeons should have princess of FF quests, and as the Ranger Forest is one of the main dungeons, it should have quests.

Oops, my mistake. Did you mean Adoc the Ranger's forest? I was thinking of Lerrial forest, because it is close to Wadrium, the Ranger camp. No, Adoc's Forest should not have random quests. I'll check that out tonight, and fix it ;)

JohnGilmore:I noticed that you have some Necromancy skill with this char - I assume that you got that through FF? How much did you use it, how did you use it, and what was it most useful for? I noticed that you had it bumped all the way up to 21, which means that you invested at least 40 skill points in it, so you must have found it useful somehow in spite of your lack of corpse preservation.

In that same vein, how would you change Necromancy if you could? Should Necromancy be changed and how?

EwanMcNay: John - I find that 'absorb soul' is a wonderful way to sustain hp in many situations, which is the only necro power I use. No summoning (especially not with a mindcrafter!), no need for vampirism, just the healing. [I haven't given the overall structure enough thought to offer useful opinions, really. Maybe after grants are submitted..]

Quests - yes, Adoc's forest (sorry for the ambiguity). It was especially odd because I had already gone down for the Eternity Mage Staff, and had not had the quests there. If you're taking the anti-magic off the HXbow (which is good!), you might add it to the long sword (if it's not already there). I was amused to find that the Eternity PDSM was no use to me - without either a hp boost (which I was expecting) or immunities, who needs it? :)

FeathinSilyar: Most of the eternity weapons have antimagic. It is really annoying and crippling, making nearly all of them useless. Anytime I've thought of void-diving and examined the eternity items to decide which to go for, inevitably I settle on one to just use as a swap for getting to the last level and never for actual use.

CosmicGerbil I checked out the dungeons in d_info. It is only Adoc's forest and Lord Zergon's castle that generate random quests. I've fixed this now, ready for the next release of Gerband.

I have removed the NO_MAGIC flag from the Crossbow of Eternity. Also I will remove this flag from all the items, except the Long Sword.

I'll also check out the armour. An increase of HP when you wear it is a good idea. It should have all resists too. I want to make the Eternity items worth fighting the bad guys for :D
