Introduction
This character's only purpose was to test meleeing Nazgul, especially in relation to the RES_Morgul flag. So this character had all the CHEAT options on, WIZARD mode activated, and used the DEBUG commands to gain all power.
Here is a log of the tests I ran:
Killed all nine Nazgul with “Shadow Blade of Westernesse” with the “It can resist being shattered by morgul beings.” Never disenchanted or destroyed, 52 damage each blow (my char has +62 to damage, and the weapon gives 10 of that). Does not even show messages “resists disenchantment”.
Killed all nine Nazgul with “Spectral Shadow Blade of Westernesse” with the “It can resist being shattered by morgul beings” and the “It strikes at undead with holy wrath” flags. Never disenchanted or destroyed, ~105 damage each blow (same damage as against any other undead). Does not even show messages “resists disenchantment”.
Killed first three Nazgul with Ringil. Ringil resisted disenchantment 48 times, was disenchanted 16 times. Ringil was destroyed on the 64th blow.
Demonblade of Gothmog is the only artifact in standard ToME that has “RES_MORGUL “It can resist being shattered by morgul beings.” It also has Slay Evil brand, so Nazgul are not impervious. Fighting Nazgul, it can be disenchanted (shows the message “resists disenchantment whenever not disenchanted). It resisted disenchantment 35 times, was disenchanted 12 times, whereupon it reached (+0,+0) and showed no more disenchantment messages. Killed all nine Nazgul without destruction, twice over.
Anduril has disenchantment resistance and slay evil. It resisted disenchantment 37 times, was disenchanted 13 times, whereupon it reached (+0,+0) and showed no more disenchantment messages. Conclusion: disenchantment resistance does nothing. Destroyed fighting the 11th Nazgul (453 blows).
