ShrikeDeCil: Is there any benefit to extending 'Fire Aura' to be a multi-square effect? Like the player's light? Holy Fire and Dark Fire would also be interesting auras. Monsters cringing not just when the Phial is activated - but simply being in its presence. Balrogs causing fire-effects to damage things without actually wasting their action on a fireflash spell. Extending to the other elements, etc.

NeilStevens: Your pets would hate it.

ShrikeDeCil: Pets? What pets? ;) It wouldn't do anything special as a monster aura though, would it? As opposed to as a player aura? A Balrog shouldn't be having non-fire-immune pets in any case.

Having the Phial, yet having snaga as pets also seems contraindicate. It's the slight damage that non-susceptible pets would take that would aggravate them. Hum.

IngeborgNorden: I'd love being able to define my own list of damage types as "aura eligible" in a module; it would give elemental (or strongly good/evil) monsters a bit more punch.

DarkGod: And it is already possible :)

IngeborgNorden: Cool! Which file(s) would I need to edit?

DarkGod: Take a look at add_aura in game/tome/scripts/combat.lua

IngeborgNorden: Yay! At last, my "Wings of Fire" spell from T-Plus will do what I imagined it doing... *hugs DarkGod*
