I keep finding all these unique items, for example: Bigby's Big Book of Brutality, or a Parchment titled "Planar Travel Made Easy" which claim that they can be activated for some effect, but I can't figure out how to do that. Using "A" to activate items only activates items that you are wearing, and you can't wear Bigby's Big Book of Brutality.

Also, is there any reason that you get 6 skill points when leveling in the windows version but only 5 in the linux version?

NeilStevens: One page per topic, please.

LordEstraven: Try 'A', in ToME it can activate stuff in your inventory if said stuff cannot be worn.

The skillpoints thing is probably because the version you're using is outdated. Current is 2.3.4, only available for Linux as source.

HarryErwin: When you use 'A', you can switch between your inventory and your equipment. *Before* you do that, use a Scroll of *Identify* on the item. Again, you can switch between inventory and equipment. If you don't *Identify* the item, you'll probably be very, very sorry.

PeterWiersig: You switch with the '/' key. (normal keymap)
