greycat (Greg Wooledge) is a long-time Angband player and source code hacker (author of GW-Angband). He started playing ToME somewhere during the 2.1 days (never touched it while it was PernAngband). He does pretty well with fighter-type characters and hybrids, and poorly with pure spellcasters, although he's gotten somewhat better.
greycat joined the ToME development team in summer of 2005, and has done some work on the 2.3.x series.
ToME winners:
Gnome Summoner (Also a DitL character.)
Kobold Ranger (Also a DitL character.)
Day in the Life characters:
Three attempts at a Rogue in the September 2005 competition (all unsuccessful).
Chatter
NeilStevens: About time you came here, heh.
GreyCat: For a long time, I didn't realize that this Wiki seems to be the central information source for at least ToME 2.x (not sure about 3.x yet). I thought the mailing list seemed a bit quiet....
NeilStevens: Are you on the tome-cvs list?
GreyCat: No, I've been lazy and haven't subscribed to that one. I just do a CVS update every once in a while to see if you've changed anything (like monster totems
).
NeilStevens: Well, I changed monster totems this morning and wanted you to test, is all, heh.
GreyCat: It works. Pretty nice change, but to be honest, seeing the monster recall information would be a lot more useful when one is examining a corpse instead of a totem. (For a possessor, it should be obvious why. For Andrea, it's to see whether the creature is "natural" or not.)
NeilStevens: I don't see how it'd be MORE useful. I often check depths of the monsters, and it's easier just to 'I' than to summon and then target. Perhaps for possessors it'd be equally useful, but I would expect a summoner to totem first and ask questions later.
Of course, since it is useful to possessors, and it's very very easy to add because I did all the work already for totems, I just added the same feature for corpses.
GreyCat: Ah, looks good after your second change. I was just about to tell you that you had broken the totem part when you added the corpse part, but then I CVS updated again, and they both work now.
