I love Ironman setting as you get super-great levels all the time.

But then again I love getting a sorceror with mimicry/symbiosis or a swordmaster with mindcraft from the fumblefingers quests.

I was hoping you could have both in some way.

My suggestion is that if the level is 5,10,15,20... you have 50% chance to get a level from the other setting. If you have ironman setting you get a fublefinger quest. If you don't have ironman setting you have a 50% chance to getting an ironman floor every fifth level. (with a warning: You smell possibly dangerous things from another deepth here.)

The settings today is two different games. Why not make them a little more alike?

NeilStevens: Because that's just too easy if you get to have guaranteed supergreat dungeon levels. You get to prepare in normal levels before entering. The ironman rooms option is interesting becuase it's a tradeoff. Your proposal eliminates the tradeoff, and just makes the game easier. It's a big boon with no cost, because you can prepare indefinitely and escape at will to a normal, safer level.
