RavenRed: Just some minor flavour things to make the monster list more Tolkienien...
- (Novice)Priests/Patriarchs could become Eru or Manwe (High) Priests...
- (Novice)Paladins, Knights Templar could become (High) Tulkas Priests
- In a similar vein, cultists and cult-leaders could become Melkor/Dark Priests.
- Although it's more of a stretch, Black/Hell Knights could become Knight of Melkor / Knight of Udun.
- Druids could become Yavannah Priests.
- Werebears could become Beornings
- Mimics could become Skin-Changers (which, as I recall, is how Gandalf described Beorn to Bilbo)
- Swamp Thing could become Symbiant
NeilStevens: I agree on the Beornings, but I don't see how Priests of any kind are really more in theme.
RavenRed: Worshipper, then? If it's a char-class then maybe should it be considered "ToME in-theme". Understand what you're saying, though.
MayLith: I like the concept of Werebears --> Beornings. Could they potentially be coaligned, if one's character is of appropriate race and/or class?
Re: all the assorted priests, I'm not clear on whether they are suggested to being renamed or re-worked (I presume renamed.) I do think critters like Knights Templar could go away or be renamed. AFAIK (and feel free to prove me wrong) there's no such thing as a Knight Templar in Tolkien-dom. (Then again, neither is there a yeek....)
Just a few thoughts.
RavenRed: Yup. Just renamed. Priests (either good or bad) and Paladins don't really have a huge Tolkienian lineage. I had thought dropping them for 2.3 would be a bit of a big prune of the monster list, so I thought renaming them might be a shorter step.
