MassimilianoMarangio: Thank you.

FuriousOne: No problem. (Edit: removed a flag from paper armour that isn't there in ToME and reworded description to reflect this).

MassimilianoMarangio: Added the descriptions with some changes (e.g. there are no banded mails or throwing axes in ToME) as well as a few others. Some items are still without descriptions. Suggestions are welcome!

Leather Jacket
the base AC of 12 must be either a bug or some sort of enchantment

FuriousOne: Not very contemporary, but I'll give it a shot (and hear, hear on the AC): A garment fashioned from animal hide, resembling a robe that has been shortened to waist-length, with straight-cut sleeves and a bit of decorative fringe around the collar. [tangent]The Leather Jacket of Aragorn [12, +8] - It increases your charisma by 5. It makes you rebellious. It grants you the power of channel spirit of James Dean if it is being worn.[/tangent]

Basilard (corrected the spelling)
normally a two-edged long bladed dagger, but the damage (1d9) and the weight are more appropriate for a short sword.

FuriousOne: Two-edged dagger with a long blade. A favourite among travellers and warriors alike, because it can be worn comfortably with plain clothes as well as armour.

Stone and Hide Armour
Never heard of it... Suggestions are welcome.

FuriousOne: In Theme, I changed this to Mumak Hide armour, for thematic reasons and because this seems to be either a carryover from Eldritch (I think) or a strange hybrid of hide armour (pre-medieval) and stones[?]. Just doesn't fit into the Middle-earth world in any way, though, unless the hide is of a specific creature (e.g. Dragon, Mumak, Bear), as Middle-earth is a medieval setting for the most part.

  • ReenenLaurie: How about the Oliphaunts? (As shown in the movie etc.)

    • FuriousOne: Oliphaunt = Mumak

      • ReenenLaurie: I gathered that after I googled on Mumak... (Yes I am very bored at the moment... :) )

MassimilianoMarangio: Perhaps from the Druedain? They had incredible powers with stone statues (pukelmen).

FuriousOne: OK, I was reading Return of the King and came across a description for the armour of hill-trolls out of Gorgoroth during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. I've taken it and ran with it, and here's what I came up with:

D:A close-fitting mesh of horned scales, fashioned from a thin
D:layer of rock and fitted onto roughout animal hide. It provides
D:a reasonable degree of protection to the wearer.
Blood of Life

ZasVid: Does the Blood of Life have a description? In the October 10th CVS it didn't. In case it doesn't, I suggest sth like (inspired by StarweaverBlue): "Quaffing this measure of living blood will imbue your body and soul with the power to escape death one time."

Flame Imperishable

FuriousOne:

D:An impossibly bright, flickering living flame. It can be used
D:once to imbue an object with the power of Eru Iluvatar himself.
Tome of Magical Energy

FuriousOne:

D:The slick black cover of this tome seems to glow
D:with an inner violet light. You feel more attuned
D:to raw magic as you hold it.
Tome of the Eternal Flame

FuriousOne:

D:The cover of this tome is bright red, with flickering
D:flames dancing across it once in a while. As you hold
D:it, you begin to gain a much closer knowledge of all
D:that is fiery.
Tome of the Blowing Wind

FuriousOne:

D:The pages of this tome have a tendency to turn themselves,
D:as though flipped by an errrant wind. As you hold it,
D:you start feeling wind at your fingergips.
Tome of the Impenetrable Earth

FuriousOne:

D:The solid grey cover of this tome seems permanently
D:stained with caked mud and grass. Heavy it is to lift,
D:yet strangely comforting to hold - you feel stronger
D:and better supported.
Tome of the Everrunning Wave

FuriousOne:

D:The cover and pages of this tome seem to be perpetually
D:wet, though they are not wet to the touch. As you hold
D:it, you begin to understand ocean storms better.
Tome of Translocation

FuriousOne:

D:This book seems to flicker strangely. It's one of those books
D:with an annoying tendency to disappear when you need them and
D:reappear in the unlikeliest places. As you hold it, you start
D:to understand what conveyance really means.
Tome of the Tree

FuriousOne:

D:The cover of this tome is a deep shade of green, and it gives off
D:a healthy, zesty scent that makes your thoughts clearer. As you
D:hold it, your heart goes out to all living things upon Arda.
Tome of Knowledge

FuriousOne:

D:A thick book with solid leather binding. It looks entirely
D:unremarkable, but as you hold it, you feel strangely able
D:to learn the inner workings of things and creatures.
Amulet of Lightning Resistance

FuriousOne:

D:This amulet will protect you from electrical discharges and storms.
Amulet of Wisdom

FuriousOne:

D:This magical amulet will magically make you wiser, and fend off
D:attacks that would reduce your wisdom. Beware: if cursed, the
D:amulet will do the opposite.
Amulet of Regeneration

FuriousOne:

D:Wearing this amulet will trigger your body's regenerational
D:processes quicker and make them proceed faster.
Amulet of Infravision

FuriousOne:

D:This amulet will increase your ability to sense warm-blooded
D:creatures in your vicinity. Beware: if cursed, it will do
D:just the opposite.
Amulet of Devotion

FuriousOne:

D:This blessed amulet will protect your wisdom and charms from
D:diminishing, often adding to them as well. It also grants
D:some extra protective magics by the grace of the Valar.
Amulet of Weaponmastery

FuriousOne:

D:The ultimate amulet for a warrior, it will grant protection
D:in the face of some evil magics, protect your strength and health,
D:also increasing them. Beware: if cursed, the amulet will
D:sap your strength and health instead.
Amulet of Trickery

FuriousOne:

D:The ultimate amulet for a rogue or assassin, it protects the
D:wearer against some evil magics, granting improvements in
D:the abilities vital to these adventurers. Beware: if cursed,
D:the amulet will do just the opposite.
Amulet of Telepathy

FuriousOne:

D:This rare and powerful amulet lays bare the minds of monsters
D:before the wearer.
Amulet of Sustenance

FuriousOne:

D:This blessed amulet will make the wearer impervious to evil magics
D:that would sap innate abilities. It also slows down the digestive
D:system, making food less necessary on long journeys.

MassimilianoMarangio: Many thanks again. I'm adding the descriptions to k_info.txt :-)

SimonSorc: Essences don't all have descriptions, and its descriptions are only visible after *ID* which is intensely annoying.

LordEstraven: FWIW, I'm not sure the description of the Feanorian Lamp (above) is quite right. The lamp containing the essence of Feanor himself seems rather Dune-ish, if you get my meaning.
