No background or names for the sets, since I'm not good with that sort of thing.
These are intended for ToME 3.0.0
Shadow Blade and Shadow Cloak set
Appart, they're just avarage, slightly better than non-artifact version of the items. Together, the set does the obvious (increases pluses on blade and cloak, including more stealth), and also does the following:
- Increase the percentile resistances against light and dark given by the cloak.
- Grants nether resistance.
- Grants the player invisibilty (invisibility seems shadowy to me).
- Grants levitaiton (shadows are pretty insubstantial)
- Cloak can be activated for probability travel (probability travel seems like something insubstantial things could do; well, actually, I associate "insubstatial" more with wraith-form, but that would too powerufl)
- Grants light and dark brands to the blade (can non-standard brands be done in ToME 3.0.0?). Not many things resits either, and very few resist both. Plus, lots of undead are vulnerable to light, making it similar to *Slay Undead*.
- Grants Undead.ESP
- Aggravates undead.
- Reduces light radius by one.
Shadowy stuff seems (to me, at least) to be well suited to the Void, so maybe the combination should grant "Can breathe without air". Though in that case, the combined set would probably need more penalties.
Dragon Scale Mail, Dragon Helm, and Dragon Shield set
Multihued dragon scale mail, dragon helm with resist sound, and dragon shield with resist shards (though the later two resists could easily be something else). Scale mail can be activated for breath elements.
With any two of the set:
- Grants Dragon.ESP
- If the scale mail is present, increases damage and radius of breath activation, and makes it easier and quicker to activate.
- Increases resistance percentiles of the items in the set.
- Grants Slay Dragon to the player's weapon.
- Aggravates dragons.
- If it's just the shield and helm, grants flight without the scale mail.
With all three of the set:
- Grants Dragon.ESP
- Enchances the scale mail activation like above, but even more powerfully.
- Increases resistance percentiles even more than with two of the set.
- Grants *Slay Dragon* to the player's weapon.
- Aggravates everything.
With all three of the set, you have very high levels of resistance to all four elements, so it doesn't hurt you so much to not have some of the immunities (except for not protecting your equipment), and you'll permanently have very high resistance to poison.
Other set-penalties might be to increase the scale mail's accuracy penalty, increase the armor encumberance of the set items, and decrease movement speed, because dragon hide is heavy.
Spell Caster set
This set would include a golden crown or jewel encrusted crown (like an artifact version of Crown of the Magi), to boost spell power; a ring or pair of gloves, to boost spell casting speed (faster hands equals faster spell casting; and an amulet or robe to boost mana. Two of the set together would increase the magic-related boosts of the artifacts present, and all three together would boost them even more. All three together would also provide a boost to the Sorcery skill, and grant full telepathy.
For set-penalties, it might decrease STR and/or CON.
Fingolfin's Last Stand
The Long Sword 'Ringil'(4d5) (+22,+25)
The weapon of Fingolfin, High King of the Noldor; it shines like a column of ice lit by light unquenchable. Morgoth came but unwillingly to meet it of old; his lame foot will remind him of its might should he meet it again.
It can be activated for ball of cold (100) every 300 turns if it is being worn. It provides light (radius 1) forever. It increases your speed by 10. It does extra damage from frost. It is especially deadly against trolls. It is a great bane of demons. It strikes at undead with holy wrath. It fights against evil with holy fury. It provides immunity to paralysis. It makes you completely fearless. It provides resistance to cold and light. It allows you to see invisible monsters. It slows your metabolism. It speeds your regenerative powers. It has been blessed by the gods.
The Set of Cesti of Fingolfin (+10,+10) [5,+20]
The hand-sheathing of Fingolfin, warrior-king of Elves and Men, who gave Morgoth seven mighty wounds and pain that will last forever.
It can be activated for arrows (150) every 90+d90 turns if it is being worn. It grants you the power of magic missile if it is being worn. It increases your dexterity and luck by 4. It provides immunity to paralysis. It provides resistance to acid. It provides a random ability.
The Silver Mail of Fingolfin (-3 to accuracy) [30,+0](cursed)
Glimmering with silver inlay, this bright coat of rings lends insight, bravery and legerdemain to the wearer.
It can be activated for heroism every 300 turns if it is being worn. It grants you the power of blink. It provides light (radius 3) forever. It increases your wisdom and constitution by 5. It sustains your dexterity. It makes you completely fearless. It provides resistance to dark, nether and disenchantment. It aggravates nearby creatures. It is heavily cursed. It can re-curse itself.
+10% to critical hits on Ringil upon set completion.
Chatter
Solorin: Fingolfin's Last Stand is cross-posted from Idea Archive/Sentient non-weapons. Apologies to those who read it there. I think the set idea stands apart from the sentience it was proposed with before. All three artifacts seem pretty powerful, so finding a balanced bonus upon set completion is rather hard. Ideas are welcome.
