MayLith: There's a recent thread over in the forum asking for basic help with Farmer Maggot's quest. While reading/posting to it, I started thinking about the Void (which I've never gone into) and the warning to make sure all known Uniques are dead before you go in there.
Well, do Maggot's dogs ever show up in the Void? I have no idea.
My suggestion is this: You have a chance of running into one or more of Maggot's dogs in the Void and/or Nether Realm (and maybe in Angband, once you get deep enough), but:
- If you successfully completed Farmer Maggot's quest, the dogs are levelled and co-aligned.
- If you failed Farmer Maggot's quest *OR* never completed it, the dogs are not only levelled, but out to get you and tack your hide on a convenient wall somewhere...
PermanentInk: As an aside, I think it would be amusing if the dogs roamed the Halls of Mandos seeking revenge on adventurers who have all too often caused their untimely deaths.
Solorin: 2. Wow, that's really cruel. (They didn't seem that scary in the book.) Some of us don't want that useless sling, anyhoo.
And one CSW-shroom-gorged death is one too many. *shudder*
MayLith: Yup, I always advise newcomers to ditch those CSW shrooms. They can save your life, yes, or they can kill you deeeaaaaadddd.....
I will, however, second a call for more non-violent quests. I mean more as in number not degree.
"Tom the Stone Troll drops a broad sword{special}. 'Okay, okay, you made your point. You want the stupid sword, you can have it. Just put the bloody dagger down!'"
BurbLulls: "Travel to the tower of the Necromancer and free Mirkwood from his spells by telling him to stop and feel bad about what hes done."
SimonSorc: I wish there was a quest where you get a kitten down from a tree. You have to find out what the kitten likes to eat. (-;
MayLith: Solorin, BurbLulls, and Simon: One point of the wiki is to put new ideas on new pages, so they can be more easily found. (That was the whole problem with the forum.) Good ideas, just put new ideas on new threads!
NeilStevens: You can just copy and paste all the relevant discussion from here to each new page, and add links in both directions so people can follow the whole train of thought.
