KhymChanur: For 3.0.0, items should be able to give the player variable levels of slow digestion and regeneration, rather than just having them be on or off. Thus, some items/egos/artifacts would be able to highly lower your food need or increase regeration, or only do it a little bit. It could also make possible new types of cursed items. You could also have negative numbers, so that, say, a cursed Ring of Slow Digestion wouldn't merely be unremoveable, but would also make you hungry faster. Or you could have a re-cursing "Amulet of Bloating", which has such a high value of digestion-slowing that it reverses digestion, pumping more and more nutrition into you until you become bloated, and you'll stay bloated until you can get the darn thing off.

KhymChanur: Oh. Also, depending on how it was coded, this might let you separate regeneration from the hunger effects of regeneartion. So a normal Amulet of Regeneration would have REGEN=10, SLOW_DIGEST=-10, to make you regen quicker but get quicker hungrier, but you could also have an Amulet of Hungerless Regeneration, with REGEN=10, SLOW_DIGEST=0.

Hmmmm, but if you did it that way then you'd have to add up the SLOW_DIGEST values of all the equipment, since an item with regen-hunger of a regen item is somewhat cancelled out by the slow-digest of a slow-digest item. Right?

MayLith: I really like these ideas. (And yes, I presume the SLOW_DIGEST values would have to be summed. Sort of the way light values have to be added. Hmmm... )

Derakon: For the "of Bloating" idea to work, you'll need a magic ceiling on the slow digestion effect. There's a significant difference between never needing to eat and getting fed by your equipment. So I don't think that that concept really works with the rest of the idea, though I do like it otherwise.
