I'm Lord Dimwit. ToME player, occasional contributor to the game files, hamhanded coder, general meddler and oppressor of the weak.

As far as ToME is concerned, I'm still kind of in limbo; I used to play it a lot, but I haven't run a character in a while, due to a combination of weariness with having played so much and a rather large decrease in the amount of free time on my hands. I might show up here sporadically just to see how the game is progressing, since, though I don't really play any more, I still like to see it evolve. My familiarity with the wiki is basically nil, so please excuse my poor formatting, incompetent linking, ill manners, and shoddy mode of dress. On second thought, those last two can't be thusly excused.

I might have time in the near future to run a character or two (hmm, I think I've been claiming this for about six months, so take it however you want), but the last time I sat down to play a little ToME I accidentally deleted my automatizer file (nothing but plain stupidity to blame there), and it's taking so long to rewrite the lists of things that I habitually pick up and destroy that motivation remains pretty low.

Favorite races/classes (since everyone else seems to be doing it): Fondness for Dwarves, either Petty or otherwise. Half-Ogres. Dark-Elves. Maiar (really!). Like Ents but don't play them too often. Don't like RohanKnights, but play them frequently out of necessity. Enjoy playing Loremasters and hack-and-slash type characters, don't like Mages quite as much. Enjoy odd race / class combinations and absurd use of skill points in order to create uncommon characters (fighting Mages, spellcasting Warriors, etc).

Primary weaknesses: Playing MUCH too fast, diving too quickly, foolishly taking on quests that are too difficult (Eol and the Khazad-Dum house quest come to mind), generally overestimating my characters' strength, abandoning peripheral skills in favor of more killing power, not revealing fates, overrelying on artifacts and the automatizer (set to destroy pretty much all non-artifacts after clev 35), melee-attacking Floating Eyes at early levels.

Dumbest death: This comes from a long time ago (Angband v.foo.foo). Genocided all monster races in a greater (checkerboard) vault with a Mage and was looting it for eq, was trying on that eq to see how it looked on the character, switched out my free action eq, ran into a Trapper (hadn't genocided floor tiles :P), paralyzed, died. I'm STILL kicking myself over that one.

Brief resume: I have contributed a little to ToME itself—I wrote two special levels ("Galleon" and "Machine") that have made it into the game, and several others (The Black Gate, a couple of additional special levels in Angband, a special level for The Void) that may show up later. I also wrote some artifacts that go along with these levels, and a strategy guide for the game.

Here's a list of my characters on oook.

My user name comes from a character in Zork.

My relationship with ToME could likely be described as "off-again-on-again," inasmuch as I go for months without playing and then return to it abruptly and leave just as suddenly. Currently (1 August 2006), I'm back for a time; we'll see how long.

Cheers!
