This inscription is commonly used on Scrolls of Recall.
General expansion of this idea

Essentially, you can prevent use of any particular command by inscribing a bang ( ! ) before any command you wish to be wary of, for a given object. For example:
A Mushroom of Unhealth (!E)
Don't accidentally eat this.
A Potion of Healing (!q)
Don't accidentally drink this, unless you really need it.
If you have an item that is very bad (or very good) that you are carrying around, the easiest thing to do is inscribe it with !*!*, which hopefully will help to prevent you from inadvertently using or losing something you wish you hadn't; it's a stronger version of !k!d!v.
