Hello. I'm one of the moderators of the ToME forum and this wiki. If you need my help in deleting a wiki page, please see Deletion Requests. Serious problems with the wiki should be reported to Wiki Problems.
I can be reached most easily via wikimail, here, or via PM'ing on the forum. If need be, you may also try to reach me at satinka33 at netscape dot com, but I do not check my mail every day.

Me
My first name is Megan. I'm 37, very happily married, and I reside in Virginia, USA.
I've enjoyed many roguelikes since the mid-1980s when I first encountered Hack on a mainframe as a frosh at undergrad, but ToME has become my favorite by far. I'm a diehard roguelike ASCII fan, though I enjoy advanced graphics in other games. If/when the coolness ISO stuff for ToME comes out, I'll probably try it for kicks and then go right back to ASCII again. Time may make a liar out of me, but that's how I feel right now, anyway. (I did like ZTk, though, which IMHO combined the best parts of ASCII and a little bit of graphics.)
Characters
My characters are here on oook. Some of the lower level ones are actually dead.
Game trivia about me:
- Favorite race: Wood-Elves
- Favorite classes: Loremasters and Priests
- Favorite god: Eru Iluvatar
- Wins: none yet
- Best character: Cirad, Wood-Elf L50 Eru Priest (see below)
- Favorite finds: The shards of Narsil and the Ring of Precognition
- Game habits:
- Slow diving, due to:
- paranoia
- a tendency to want to clear the whole level (rather deadly in Angband; that dungeon is making me change my ways!)
- being busy with other things in life
- DitL'ing (I somehow started the trend... I'm glad I did, though I have nowhere near the inventive talent some of you do!)
- Slow diving, due to:
Stupidest death: Drowning in the fountain of Lothlorien. Really. *rolls eyes*
- Stupidest bad game habit: "Oh look, it's a batch of levelled summoning monsters. I can take them!" /me barges off without doing anti-summoning techniques first, totally confident in my speed and ability to paste them before they can summon. Doh!
Characters (aside from those listed on oook -- I'll try to port them all over):
/Cirad, my L50 female Wood-Elf Eru Priest, currently diving Angband.
/Cyd, a CL38 female Wood-Elf Eru Archer.
RandomComp1 characters:
/Oleliron, L5 Petty-dwarf Symbiant (dead)
/Mywyn, L1 Maia Lostsoul Loremaster (instadeath)
/Kaerracred, L38 Dwarf Haftedmaster worshipping Melkor (alive!)
- Several others who didn't live long enough to get a page, including an assassin and an alchemist.

GeneralDiscussion/Armor class... what exactly does it do? long discussion on linking and anchors
For Wiki doc:
- monks - spread blows doesn't work
- FAQ - link spellpower to documentation, once something exists for spellpower
- classes - list them by the categories seen in character creation (e.g. demonologist is under fighters), at least in a tree?
- assorted to do lists in the doc changelog chatter
- documentation/commands -- explain the '+' commmand alter grid
trap->disarm (but do not move into next space)
wall->dig (but do not move into next space)
monster->attack (but do not move into next space)
- otherwise, nothing
- note: also put a backlink to this from Maeglin quest
- monster spoilers - link these from somewhere -- the FAQ?
- Zizzo's tomespoil script
- wizard mode monster spoiler creation
Don't forget to mention that ctrl can be used instead of + in alteration command. (VagaBond's note to me.)
- character creation - ironman turns off random quests
- internal ref numbers in the magical ablity menu (for macros)

Chatter
/Neil doc chatter Long discussion between NeilStevens and myself on in-game and wiki doc.
NeilStevens: Was the character sheet template your idea? If so, it saved the day today.
MayLith: Yup. Thanks.
Hey, on the comp page, did you see Furiosity's post re: comp templates? Personally I don't think it'd work in the way she describes, at least as I understand how wiki works, but is there something else that might serve in its place? (I sort of doubt it, but hey, I'll ask.)
NeilStevens: Seeing how many pre-competition users had character sheets missing the category, it'd have taken me a half hour to an hour to go add the category for all the new users! However, thanks to the template, the new users brought here (presumably some from the forum) by the competition are all using the template and automatically get the category!
MayLith: Heh... I can't remember if I used the template myself or not (*blush*) Hmm... apparently not, thanks for fixing it. And yes, we do seem to be getting some new users as a result of the comp. I just posted again over on the forum: Since it's an unofficial comp, there's no reason why Mac players should be excluded due to game version number.
NeilStevens: Oh, since you saw most of the promising losers, make sure you saw the winner; NeilStevens/Ryoko
NeilStevens: Considering I'm always "forging" a signature of DarkGod on the Announcements page, it's funny that you did so with my name.
MayLith: Heh!
NeilStevens: Since you were so interested in the typos (which I understand, because that was one of the main reasons I got involved), would you be interested in getting a CVS account and applying those fixes?
MayLith: At the very least, I'd be willing to look into what would be involved in doing that...
NeilStevens: For information on using CVS, see the GNU CVS homepage. For information on getting a CVS account, mail Pav and DG. If you don't know anything about programming, you will still likely be able to edit the messages. The biggest tool you'll need is a way to search groups of files for the text you want to find. Plus, those of us who watch the CVS mailing list will see all the changes you make, and will be able to fix anything if you break it accidentally.
MayLith: Thanks. And the fixability is nice to hear, too. I'll try to have a look at your links in the next day or so. (I'm working late tonight, so it probably won't happen today.) I'm not as concerned about my ability -- I used to be a programmer, believe it or not -- as about my available time. E2 is starting to be a drain, and I simply don't want to commit to something I can't then follow through on. OTOH, I've only found a double handful or so of typos so far, so maybe it'll be just fine. (FWIW, I feel that typos, etc., detract from the professional appearance of a product, so that's where my motivation is.)
NeilStevens: Don't worry about making a commitment. If you do one spurt of fixes then disappear, nobody will hold it against you. In fact, your efforts will be appreciated no matter how much or little you get done.
RogerBarnett: Quick question, may I have your permission to include a copy of your ToME fanfiction/poetry "'twas the night before Solstice" in the roguelike fanworks archive at http://roguelike.calamarain.net ? You would of course be credited as the author and a link back to here would be provided.
