I have been experimenting with wands in Gerband and I noticed some wands have a huge fail rate. I was testing a wand of summon animal. In debug mode I maxed out my INT, WIS, CHR, magic power, magic device skill, spell power and nature magic skill. yet when I examined the wand it said it still had a fail rate of 76. What am I doing wrong?

OK, I have decided in Gerband to alter the fail rate of wands, because otherwise some wands will be nearly impossible to use. For example the Wand of Wishing has a fail rate of 99 and even if you max out magic devices, it still has a fail rate of 96. The Wand of Wishing is meant to be a treat find (it is rare enough), but what's the point of it if it nearly always fails when you try to use it :S

ZasVid: What's the difference whether it discharges 1 time in 2 or 1 time in 200? It's not like you would be casting Wish in the middle of a heated battle. It's just a bit tedious with a big fail rate.

NeilStevens: You answered your own question: there's no reason to make it tedious on the user.

CosmicGerbil Yay, exactly Neil :D Heh, anyway you might want to use it in battle..."I wish for a Pet Great Wyrm of Power" ;)

LogrusMage: better to wish in advance of the battle, and companion it.

CosmicGerbil Good idea :)
