ReenenLaurie: I read on the wiki that the Ninjitsu training place is "hidden". Can I reach it with my level 1 char? Or can you not take Ninjitsu from the start?

As a side question... can I take on Karate after I've started with another one? And do I keep my old modifiers? (thus, for a small amount of cash I can get +.5 modifiers in several of the skills).

NerdanelVampire: The Ninjitsu building is a green + in the north-eastern map square between the two rivers that flow from the mountains. You can't reach it easily. If you spend 5 points into swimming you can theoretically reach it at level 1 (going to west from the northwest square would be the preferred entrance for you), but you would have to dodge green belts.

The latest version has independent modifiers in every place you can study (and you get none for yourself), but earlier when the skill system was entirely different the modifiers stacked.

Sirrocco: There's a bit of strategy to it, though. First, you can't study at competing dojos (Karate/Kung-fu, Tae Kwon Do/Kickboxing, Judo/Sumo). Second, once you get far enough in the game, you will want to start challenging dojos. Aside from the nice, large quantity of experience from doing so, every dojo you defeat will raise your skill maxima on the other dojos - and you can't ever challenge any dojo that you've studied at before. Also, I gotta say that I'm not sure how much I like the idea of using standard format for Gameplay discussion. It's great for focused attention on bugs and such, but tends to hamper...well...the discussing part. If you think of something to mention offhand while writing under the old format, you put it in. If you think of something to mention while writing under the standard format, you either stray off topic (like me, here) which tends to cut down on replies and could be considered rude, or you have to go through the hassle of starting up another topic. Likewise, if you have two entirely different things to say, you either make one of them off-topic or you start two topics. It's not all that difficult, but it is enough of a bother that a lot of times people will simply decide to not write anything after all.

ReenenLaurie: Point taken... but then I think Headings, and a table of contents will be a good idea.

Sirrocco: generally, we just put the new stuff on the bottom, strip the outdated stuff off the top, and condense anything that's worth keeping into the "tips" section. Given how quickly the game is developing, a lot of the discussion gets obsolete pretty quickly.

BucketMan: We'll want headings and ToC eventually, but at the moment things are too subject to change for it to be very practical. Take this question, for instance. As of V083, the Ninjutsu training camp no longer exists. I know that the big, long massive sections of text like we have in 'Spoily' and 'Bug discussion' are potentially a bit daunting, and it's not entirely convenient to have to sort through so much material...but as much text as there is now, we've probably deleted about that much of old material, and it's a whole lot easier to maintain and delete things from one big block than spread out over several pages.

ReenenLaurie: Oh, does Ninjitsu still exist? I've been advancing nicely... I am enjoying it very much thanks.

BucketMan: With V083, Ninjutsu as a dedicated 'school' is gone. The plan is to replace the style with Splinter and Shredder as Master Trainers. At the moment they only teach Stealth and Sneaking, though.
