Ten years ago a crack treant commando unit was sent to prison by a wizard for a theft they didn't commit. These treants promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the forest underground. Today, still wanted by the wizard, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem and no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the E-Team.

NeilStevens: E-Team now available at the modules site.

Documentation

To win the game, you need to get down to the bottom basement of the fortress, get the file, and get back out of B1 alive. It's that simple. And with the E-Team standing ready to help you escape with their proof of innocence...

To fire a firearm, you need to have invested in the Shooting skill. With at least a level in Shooting, and a firearm wielded, you may fire by pressing f. Press ? for more help.

You are advised to delete your E-Team saves and related files whenever you get a new version in the T-Engine alpha series.

ShrikeDeCil Is the randomness in skill-point acquisition rate by design? I seem to get non-systemic amounts. One advancement I get a single point, the next I get 13. Or it is tied to rank perhaps?

NeilStevens: It's randomized. You're guaranteed to be able to max out all skills, though.

Remuz: Just tried it, it was plenty of fun. I got killed by a master sergeant at (circa) dungeon level 13, I was clvl 9 at the time. Heavt investment in speed and offensive skill seemed a good idea most of the game, but just didn't cut it in the end. Oh, well. One remark, though, you should reduce the 'hit points'/'damage dealt' proportion. I found myself leaning on keyboard keys a lot, and major, with their fleeing AI, were quite a pain to kill.

NeilStevens: What weapon did you have? Thanks!

Remuz: I made two upgrades, I think the last one was called 'machette', doing between 20 and 50 of damage per hit. I was having 5 attacks/round, and my speed allowed me to be faster than my ennemies (I was going at +24, if I remember correctly).

DarkGod: For alpha12 the player.window syntax is player.window[FLAG_PW_PLAYER] = true if the tla branch you forget the FLAG_ part

NeilStevens: Thanks, fixing now

Zekk: pressing ~ causes the game to freeze up. Also, loading up my game afterward caused a weird glitch- I was on area 1. I went down the steps, and when I went to explore, I moved off of a down staircase. So I went down again untill I got to the area I was at before. wierd.

NeilStevens: Version of E-Team and of engine?

Zekk: Alpha 12, and the version that comes with the alpha as I can't seem to download it-It won't let me unzip the files when I try to re-download. I seem to meet a huge swarm of higher up enemies when I get to B16. Do I just need more stealth or something?

NeilStevens: Shift-V should tell you the exact version of E-Team. As for going that deep, stealth should prevent SOME of the swarms from coming after you, since they'll be asleep. But the deeper you go, the more monsters there are, period. The likelihoods of item generation and monster generation go up.

Shoob: Hmmm, I just played the game, and it isnt really that hard, beat it on both my first 2 tries... though there is a bug that you cannot hit ctrl-q after you have won the game :(, my 2nd char, went back to lvl 17 (location of course not character) because thats where it was last saved, lol, 5 more levels and then zoom back up again... ps. I managed to get to about that level without quaffing any health potions, you just need to know what skills to get then it is easy. And I just tried that char, as he had already been to all the levels they were all visible, and he even found some of the junk that he left there before and was still wearing now, haha 2 t-shirts, baseball caps, etc. SO luckily it still placed the folder of evidence on the last level, and when he went back up, starting on lvl 16 he was placed on the up stairs, so very quick going up, then he had to face the ruman guy again, who came back from the dead.

Oh, and I have beaten it without using any health potions :O... to me that is just wrong...

NeilStevens: Thanks for testing, heh.
