Gerband Quest
Gerband Quest is a Vanilla version of Gerband.
Some of the features include:
Added in an archaeologist class (I got the idea from NetHack). The archeologists also have some special powers.
Added in lots of none moving monsters, including the Slime Mold of Eternity, the Ultimate Slime for a Symbiant
Added in 11 new food items (some are silly)
Made the Power Dragon Scale Mail of Eternity better. Now it increases all your stats by 10.
Removed the NO_MAGIC flag from the Crossbow of Eternity.
Fixed a bug I had coded myself that stopped the Hobbit race's cook food power from working.
Misc tweaks and bug fixes.
At the moment there is only one quest. If you choose the slime subrace, you have to find the potion of remove evil curse, to restore you to your natural self.
The slime subrace has great penalties to their stats, but they can fire acid balls.

Gerband Quest competition
In my first post about Gerband Quest's release, Feathin wrote about the slime race:
It is a challenge! The most powerful races aren't necessarily the "best" or the "most fun". This is the type of thing LD would go for (and complete easily).
This gave me an idea. I have started a competition for Gerband Quest.
The rules are:
Race choice = Any, except Dunadan or High elf
Subrace choice = slime (of course)
Class = Any except warriors
The winner will get a friendly unique of their character made for the next version of Gerband Quest.
The competition closes on 6th Jan 2006
If nobody has completed the slime quest by then, the winner of the competition will be whoever has gone deepest into the dungeon.

The winner of the Gerband Quest competition is Agroewyr, Yottle's mindflayer. He is now immortalised as a pet unique in Gerband 1.2.
Thanks to everybody who entered the comp. Hope you all enjoyed it, and will keep playing because some new quests should be coming soon.

FeathinSilyar: So, any chance you could put Herbal Healing into the town? Or maybe make the Temple sell Sprigs of Athelas? Vanilla didn't have Black Breath, so I'd say that we need some other way to cure it than finding a sprig in the dungeon.
CosmicGerbil That's a good idea. I think I'll make the temple sell Athelas, because herbal healing is too expensive. I'll do another release of GQ.
Does the temple sell potions of cure insanity? That might be a good idea to add in too.
FeathinSilyar: Nope, they don't. That would be a very good thing to give them. Woot, I guess I'll hold off playing my char more till the new version comes out since I don't want to have to wander the dungeon with black breath. It's dangerous enough there and I'm always out of MP thanks to having to keep speed, stone skin, probability travel, absorb soul, sense monsters, and sense hidden running all the time.
CosmicGerbil OK, the new version is up now. You can now buy athelas in the temple, but I forgot to add in potions of cure insanity
Sometimes the temple won't have athelas in stock, but I have tested it, and the athelas does turn up. If it's not there, try again later. I wrote in the code to make athelas turn up 100% of the time, so it should be there frequently. I'm on holiday now, so I'll put the cure insanity potions in when I get back home on Tuesday.
FeathinSilyar: Yay for holidays! And for Athelas! *ditches ShadowFlare again*
CosmicGerbil Heh, I'm staying at my sister's and my niece has already drawn some Gerband pictures
CosmicGerbil OK, now in version 1.2 you can buy potions of cure insanity at the temple
