Getting There

Near Harad is easy to find; it is at almost the most southeasterly point of the map, behind Mordor.

Physical Aspects

Near Harad is a desert; overland, meaning stairways like Mirkwood and the Barrow-Downs, and empty. Also, you are constantly damaged by inertia. Although it isn't too strong it drains your speed by 10. Dungeon (Desert...) towns are availiable. Any walls that are there are sandwalls, obviously, and the ground is sand.

Monsters

The dominant monster race here is 'p', humans. Much like Dol Amroth, there are many humans like men of Harad and mindcrafters present. Be wary of mages and mindcrafters; the area being empty and you being slowed by 10 is asking for trouble. Although I have checked in d_info and there is no proof, I noticed many more vortexes here than usual. Also, wilderness creatures can appear here.

Guardian

The guardian of Near Harad is on level 25; Herumor, Lord of the Haradrim. Beware; although the last level is 25 he is far tougher than this, so use extreme caution. His attacks can drain experience and he has a reportoire of nasty spells; critical wounds and cursing, netherballs and fireballs, plasma bolts, and he can summon monsters or demons. He carries the Heavy Crossbow of Umbar; a good choice for warriors, but beware its aggravate flag. Herumor resists fire, cold, electricity, acid, nether, nexus and plasma.
