Here is my home page. I also have a a page specifically for ToME things including my automatizer file.

I mostly do maintenance and support work for ToME. That includes creating this wiki and running the ToME 2 releases since DarkGod branched off into ToME 3. I haven't done much lately because I've been working on my solitaire game for the Mac though as well as a Yahtzee game for the Mac.

Administrative requests

If you need me to delete a wiki page, see Deletion Requests.

If you want to report a problem related to the wiki upgrade, just leave a note at the bottom of this page. The custom macros should all be fixed, but given that we jumped from Moin 1.2 to 1.5, who knows what's wrong...

Chatter

NeilStevens: If you can't edit this page, feel free to contact me privately.

JohnGilmore: Interestingly, your given reason for playing all graphics, all the time is the same reason that I have for having never played graphics more than to character level 2. I guess it's that back in the days of moria, there where no graphics (that I was aware of, anyway...) and so it's what I'm used to. I really like it. Everythings clear, no mistaking this for that. No cluttering the screen with things that don't matter (flowers? What's up with those, anyway?)

I suppose that it's true that there are overloaded char/attrib combinations, but those are rare. I have to look at everything a lot more in graphics mode.

NeilStevens: I don't know how old you are, but I grew up on games with 8x8 and 16x16 tiled graphics, so maybe years of practice just make it easy to learn and identify them all!

Upgrade Discussion

ShrikeDeCil: Lots of links with either spaces or slashes have issues. (I can manually what a lot of them, but if you have something programatic, that would probably be better.) The new naming convention appears to just delete spaces in the wiki-page-name, and explicitly include "/". The old method left "_20" and "_2f". Here's a (broken) old style link: DitL Learning Competition new page is here: DitL Learning Competition

ZizzoTheInfinite: Spaces get replaced with "_" now, actually. I haven't done any exhaustive testing, but so far from editing links in my DitLs I've found that at least "/", "," and "-" (minus), which used to get encoded as "_2f", "_2c" resp. "_2d", no longer get encoded.

NeilStevens: I have another wiki to port today, so if someone could update the FAQ for me, it'd be appreciated.

As for an automatic conversion, I'm not sure how that can be done. I'm just having to look at existing code to make the macro and spam filter conversions I've already done.

UserPageKernigh: DayInTheLifeArchive/Agrelaa/part4 has a broken link to "DitL of Trilogy". However, when I fix the link and click "Save Changes", the wiki produces an error page with the message PageEditor instance has no attribute 'saveError' along with a detailed Python backtrace.

NeilStevens: Go ahead and try again. It appears that you're triggering my enhanced spam filtering (enhanced becuase we're getting attacked so much more than we were before under the old Moin), and knowing what message you get will help me adjust the filter accordingly.

ShrikeDeCil I was (earlier) running into the same problem. I've tried again on: SpoilerArchive. I get "Spam block: Illegal Linking!"

NeilStevens: OK, clearly some people are using a lot of external links on wiki pages instead of intra-wiki references. I'll look into it.

Update: OK for now I'm letting registered users bypass that rule again.

NerdanelVampire: All the pages that are named after questions are now inaccessible, and I haven't figured out how to get to them. The problem lies with the symbol ?/%3f. That's rather unfortunate as I have a problem with item hooks and I'm not sure if the fault lies with me or the engine.

NeilStevens: Working on it.

Update: Urgh, I don't know what we're going to do. Basically the Moin people broke it, but they've declared that it's not their bug... even though it used to work with the previous Moin version. Very annoying; this upgrade process has left me most displeased with this wiki software.

OK, basically we're going to have to forbid question marks in page names. Blame the MoinMoin developers for breaking old data; I don't know how to fix that. As for what to do with *existing* pages with question marks, I haven't decided yet. Probably all the old links to them will be broken, and the pags themselves will be moved to their equivalent without a question mark.

ReenenLaurie: On Spam... Wikispaces has a security setting so that any user may edit a page, but only registered users may create a page. It seems that the spam is generally put on new pages. I am searching MoinMoin for a similar setting, but so far no hits... will let you know. Later: Hmmm... Apparently it's not an available option yet. Or do the bots actually create usernames too?

ShoOb: bots create their usernames too, for example edifier3100 is a bot
