Here is Telilith, who was a sort-of-winner(?) in B.O.B. She beat a Boss Iguana and then another back when she was on level 9 and saw the bottom of the dungeon. At that time she didn't even have that leather armor.
It was probably a mistake to put on that circlet, and I think when I gained tenth level I shouldn't have increased fire magic strike two steps since it made it cost so much mana. Anyway, the real reason for Telilith's death was sheer carelessness from having effectively won the game.

NerdanelVampire: Yes, I noticed that, but I think things go in general smoother if you have a lot of mana and a less powerful magic strike. (I liked to have a reasonable fire strike and a minimum strength cold strike, but I'm not sure if the cold strike was that useful in retrospect.) That way you are less likely to waste much mana on critters that don't really need it and run out when you meet a mean blob. Having to track resources carefully and turn magic strike constantly on/off makes for a more difficult gameplay.
I haven't been drinking very many stat potions after I got my first stat potion and was surprised that it actually made my character weaker overall. After that I avoided most stat potions. I only drank a potion of powerlessness and was rewarded with dexterity, which I think was a good deal.
EtMarc : So you had the guts to use a stat decrease potion. They are meant to reduce less useful stats to give you a chance to increase a more useful one. Which is quite important since the bonus stats at level up are random.
