Armour
Ah, here’s where things get interesting. Armour protects you from damage, right? And (thanks be to our wonderfully evil DarkGod) there are now different types of damage. And different types of armour are more or less effective at protecting against different types of damage.
Now this is all very fine and dandy, and you may think that it’s merely a case of getting the heaviest, most shiny bit of armour.
Au contraire!
Different sorts of armour are far more suited for different types of occupation. The thief who tries to trip around the dungeon in full plate armour and metal boots will soon find himself an ex-thief. The archer who wants to walk around like a tank will soon find that he lacks the tank’s artillery power. This is reflected in the adjustments to skills (and in rare cases, walking speed #1)…
There are compensations, however, as can be seen below. The more encumbering and uncomfortable, the more likely it is that you’ll be protected from attacks. And I mean SERIOUSLY protected.
The Body Armour is the first part of this, with other types and shields yet to come. As it's only the first draft, comment and correction is highly welcomed!

#1 Note, this isn’t as crippling as it used to be, as Walking speed and Attack/Casting speed are now separate. You can still fight like a demon, you just won’t be able to run too many sprints in that full-plate armour…
Other
- Randarts de-emphasised. No more 4-Immunity armours!
- New Armour Ego Types:
- Of Magery (Hard Armour) Reduced Magic Penalty/Spell Failure Rate Penalty for... reduced Mundane Resistance rates
- Of Defence (Reworked) Significant Bonuses to Mundane Resistances, offset by large skill reductions in pretty much all sectors.
- Of Thievery (Soft Armours) Bonuses to stealth, reductions to Mundane Resistances
- Rusty (Hard Armours, reworked) Movement Penalties, skill penalties, reductions to PIERCE resistance.
- Of Elvenkind (Reworked) No longer covers Base resists. Electricity and Cold only (as default), along with Stealth, Archery, Magic and Spell failure bonuses / reductions in penalty.
- Of Dwarvenkind (reworked) Hideous Stealth penalties, hideous Archery penalties, reduced Penalties for Weaponmastery , Fire / Acid Resistances and... oh yes, VERY good Mundane Resistance bonuses...
