Introduction
Piewan is a v088 Dragonball T character. Level 44, and now wants advice on how to progress.
He completed the muscle tower, but got seriously injured in the underwater cavern (ate more than 1 sensu bean to get out), so now he's killing dinosaurs and waiting on more HP.
Ok, he now completed the underwater cavern, after spending the 4 skillpoints that was left on CON. I guess I'll have to spend some more on con on my next level... I'll have to see.
Gnrl Blue was one chi-burst at max...
My thoughts were to dedicate 2 points per level to CON, but I guess that'll have to be about 4 or 6 even to con.
His chi-trainers are:
- Rosshi
- Karin
- Mr. Popo
- Shredder
- Krillan
Chatter
ReenenLaurie: Let me know if there is anything I left out.
BucketMan: It always amazes me to see players who do things that I hadn't realized had been implemented yet. I'm also amazed at your build. Low speed, low-hp is a combination I've never been able to get to work. But then I've never made level 40, either. So, I'd say you're doing very well. To respond to some of the above, though, I recommend not depending on chi healing too much. It's a bit too powerful and it's likely to be rebalanced sooner or later. Acupuncture is similar to first aid, but removes all secondary effects, not just cuts. (Poison, blindness, stat drain, etc.) It requires acupuncture needles. First aid kits and acupuncture needles should both nearly always be available for sale from Dr. Tofu. Use of metal detectors requires a technology skill of 7. Out of curiosity, how many senzu beans do you have left? There are a finite number available over the course of the game, and I generally find myself hoarding them instead of using them. (Maybe part of why I've never made level 40.)
ReenenLaurie: Finite...? -gulp- I ran out of them in the underground cavern (I only had 2 there, I spent 1 against the Ninja school boss too, darn traps), and when I asked for more I got 7, which is what I have at the moment. (How do I know how "finite" my amount is?)
BucketMan: I'm surprised no one has asked before now. Without getting too spoily, in no case will Karin ever give a player more than 100 beans, but the typical player who makes it through the entire game will probably receive between forty and fifty. In general you'll find that there are fewer and fewer beans available as time goes on, until by the end game they're virtually non-existent, but how frequently you visit makes no difference in the total number of beans you'll receive.
I don't need speed because I have haste. But even that I don't need anymore to beat a screen of dinosaurs (which has been by far my biggest chunk of my XP). I often haste myself quite a bit (faster than those flying b's at +40). My suggestion though is that you shouldn't be able to haste yourself faster than your Chi-Gung. You need 10 gung to get haste anyway. Hmmm... maybe gung*2.
BucketMan: That seems reasonable. Ok. I'll take a look at that. Thank you for the suggestion. On a related note, I'd be curious to see how well your current build would perform under high-gravity conditions. I suppose using chi haste should make it perfectly feasible, but I've never personally relied on it as my sole source of speed like you're doing. (Especially surprising since it looks like you studied Judo. Which reminds me that I should implement character dumps.)
I still have to get to higher-gravity places. I have no idea how that would have to be done. My problem is... I haven't actually spoken to Pilaf. And Gnrl Blue didn't even drop a dragonball...
I want all of them dragon balls for myself. Yes, I've studied judo. Weapon fighters don't get to spend 10 points and get +40 to AC just there. So I've decided to study dodge instead of parrying at the moment. Maybe later... I dunno. Another suggestion... Make chi-bursts a lot more high damage (0 - ChiOffense) + 1 per Chi point, but make your maximum amount spent equal to chi-gung (or chi-offense). So that would make it At 25 chi-offense (1 - 26)*25 (25-650). For 25 Chi. Although... It may be missing your point of chi-bursts... I dunno how you thought of it when you conceptualized it, but spending 196 chi (@25 ChiOffense) on one burst kills a lot of the figthers in the tournament instakill.
At the moment I don't have any of the Chi-Healings... I have flight by means of my Nimbus (which helped me win the world tournament).
BucketMan: Oops.
- "Oops"? Does this mean in the next version I won't be allowed to use my "vehicle" inside the tournament? I can see people flying on a cloud in a tournament... It cannot be illegal. Please...
Oh yeah, I was wondering whether to invest in a load of Con points.
BucketMan: That's what I generally do. But you're doing better than I've ever done, so you might stick with what works. I just don't see how 600hp is playable. There are too many monsters who can do 500hp in a single round.
- You see... I don't know such spoily information... Now I'll be very careful, and start boosting the CON, to make ready for the volcano (which I presume is the next place I should be going)...
Any types of armors I should be wearing? etc.?
BucketMan: You have a good base type weapon pair, why aren't you using any ego items? Not weapons, not armor, nothing? Also, there are much better glove and bracer types than you're using, and slightly better boot types.
- This is because of the style of play I have... I generally fight Dinosaurs for XP, because "normal" opponents just take *way* too long to let me gain levels. So once I can kill one dinosaur it becomes my hunting ground (this is way dodging made it ahead of immovability, because at 202 AC they really struggle to hit me). With Battle Aura going, my to-hits are excellent, and I hardly miss a blow (which is kinda the idea of the build - the aim is to bump weapons to 50 (which is as I believe the current max), and Dex eventually as well, thinking of martial arts). So I don't spend a lot of time in places where I can pick up stuff, because the XP reward is not high enough.
Dr. Tofu is the one who gives the acupunture? Yeah, he doesn't have the first aid kit in my game. He's only got the needles. (Need to bug DG about those shops resetting...)
BucketMan: First aid kits will be a natural treasure drop in Muscle tower with the next release. As to shops resetting, it's item 56 on the new bug report list, but it doesn't look like it's been done yet.
