A small crystal phial, with the light of Earendil's Star contained inside. Its light is imperishable, and near it darkness cannot endure. It is from a group of Elven items once entrusted to Hobbits
The Phial of Galadriel is very useful.
In Angband, there are no other everburning light sources apart from a few artifacts, and the Phial is quite common. Thus, finding this Phial early was important for the player. Carrying extra wooden torches or flasks of oil sure is a pain!
In ToME, the Phial of Galadriel is not the only Phial out there, nor is it one of only three everburning light sources, and therefore it's not as important as in other Angband variants, but finding it is still a great joy, especially as it is quite rare in ToME.
The Phial:
provides light (radius 3) forever. It gives you +4 to searching and luck.
- can be activated for light area (dam 2d15) every 10+d10 turns if it's being worn.

MayLith: The Phial of Galadriel is not common at all in ToME! (It is in some other roguelikes, though.) Also -- beautiful page, just please try not to create lots of blind links. A little searching will produce results, even though we're admittedly a new wiki and maybe the relevant page isn't there yet.
