Orc Town

OrcTown is a SpecialLevel on CL35 of Moria. It is not persistent. /Map

Guardian: Bolg, son of Azog.

Guaranteed artifact: The Stone of Lore, which lies top-center of the map.

Warnings:

The room to the northeast of your arrival place is chock full of monsters. There is a Shrieker behind a glass panel which is aimed at this room (though since monsters don't cast spells if there are glass walls between them and you, it's no threat). You need to go straight north, then right, then down and through a hidden wall in order to get at it.

There are a number of hidden passages in the walls in Orc Town. You will not be able to detect them, but you can test for it by trying to walk into the wall, or by some means of detection, watching to see monsters moving through them.

You may have trouble getting at the Stone of Lore. Try looking for hidden passages and void jumpgates. If it's difficult for you, you can check the /Map.

Good luck!

Spoilers

If you have the ability to recall via the spell (or deathmold ability) you can swipe the artifact without bothering with the level, with flare you could swap positions with the mob in the same room as the artifact, either way it's pretty easy to avoid 99% of this level for the vast majority of characters.

Theme Spoiler If you have gained the corruption Sarumans power, then via telekinesis you may steal the stone through the glass wall, thus making your presence in the town shorter. But usually theres a nice unique in the room with the void gate, so i'd advise to search for it instead of "cheating" the level:)

Discussion

Xopods: Is there a guaranteed ancient dragon on this level or something? The first time I attempted it, I don't remember being particularly high level, but I breezed through it with little difficulty. If anything, the shamans were the biggest nuisance. But I've lost a couple of level 32 swordmasters to it in a row now after running into fairly tough Ds unexpectedly. The first one came around a corner and was blasted from full HP to -200 in a single breath from an ancient multi-hued dragon. The second one got blinded by something out of visual range that he assumed was a novice mindcrafter or something of the sort and proceeded to wade through the orcs (which he could still see due to orc-detecting eq) toward the empty square that presumably contained this nuisance... only to discover when he got there that it was a Great Crystal Drake. If there's always going to be a beast along these lines present, I'll wait until I'm a little more studly before diving through Moria next time.

NeilStevens: There are spots with guaranteed random deep monsters, which often end up dragons due to the monster makeup of Moria and the depths they work out to be.
