The last alliance quest is gained at Minas Tirith from Aragorn and is the most difficult of the quests here, with a danger level of 80. Aragorn tells you to journey to Gondolin, to open a jumpgate there, and to beware of rebel thunderlords, who wish to hinder you.
The Quest
Simply travel from Minas Tirith in the Wilderness mode in the direction of Gondolin, and at some stage the quest kicks in, as you are ambushed by the rebel thunderlords. You are put directly into the quest level, and are then unable to recall until you have completed the quest. To do this, you must kill all of the thunderlords. The quest level is medium sized, and forested, the trees becoming less dense towards a clearing in the middle. In this clearing the thunderlords are gathered.
- Monsters: Thunderlords of various types. Only one "gold", the majority being "blue", "green" and "brown".The thunderlords can fly so the trees are ineffective at providing a barrier between you and them. The other ability to note is that they can breath fire at you.
- Tactics: You begin in the trees just to the south of the main clearing, and are out of direct line of sight of the monsters. You therefore have time to prepare yourself. Wands of tidal wave are ineffective, unless used in the central clearing, due to the treecover, and unfortunately, it is difficult to hide easily. It is possible, however, to use some means of teleport to move away from the central area, which will put you out of danger of being overwhelmed. It is then possible to move back towards, the centre, taking out the thunderlords as they come. Tree-walking or flying are recommended abilities here, and fire immunity is extremely helpful. another option is to stone prison yourself, and dig out a hole in it (use a side, not a corner), and use the dead-end to prevent from being surrounded, but be careful; stone won't spawn on a tree or item.
(I don't know if genocide works, but I doubt it; it would make the quest too easy.)
Once you have killed the last one, a staircase will appear where it died. Feel free to collect any loot, then use the stairs to take you back to the wilderness to continue your journey to Gondolin. At Gondolin, go to Turgon. He congratulates you, and sends you back to Minas Arnor to finish the permanent jump-gate between Gondolin and Minas Anor. As your reward in Minas Arnor, you may use this gate whenever you like. The gate entrances are right next to Turgon, and Aragorn. You also receive a magical horn.
