General

I am The Fury.

I am the designer of FuryBand, FuryMod, FuryMod Town Version, and the Half Life RPG.

I have also done one very minor bit of coding for TOME 2.3.2, and contributed code for multiple colors for ToME 3.

/The Berserker The berserker is an interesting way to play. They are a class that I took from another module, modified some, and then added it to furymod. The beginning game is very simple, but, the later game is hard because they can't use activations, can't read scrolls, can't use staffs, wands, and rods, and have most of the skills limited.

/Fightin' Fury This is a character from FuryMod Town. It has died the same way most of my furymod guys have. A princess quest for great unclean ones.

Chatter

NeilStevens: Unless you like hacking in ugly, ugly C code, I recommend you keep your module a module, and avoid forking ToME. If you keep it a module, then you can talk people like DarkGod into hacking the C for you, when necessary.

Also, I bet you can do a lot more in lua than you think. Even in ToME 2, there aren't that many reasons for a module to need to change the C to accomplish something.

TheFury: Can I add new brands, item flags, monster flags, and stuff to the character sheet from LUA?

NeilStevens: In ToME 3 you can. That's been implemented in ToME 3 for a long time.

TheFalcon: That does rather beg the question how long 3.0 is going to take...

NeilStevens: No reason he can't start now. ToME 3 the game and T-engine 3 may be done at different times, you know. And the more pressure on DG, the sooner T 3 comes out.

TheFury: Anyway for me to quickly and easily get a compiled copy of tome 3? The nightly builds don't work, and for some reason, I can't download the entire directory at the cvs site. It may build interest if someone were to compile the latest working build of 3 and put in the downloads as a test...

NeilStevens: Contact DG about getting the nightly builds fixed. At this point I'm neither involved with ToME 3 nor the nightly builds, sorry.

TheFury: So email or PM?

NeilStevens: Definitely email him, and tell him if he doesn't help you out, you'll have no choice but to fork ToME, heh.

TheFury: OK, I will email him at somepoint today. He might not care about a fork though, seeing as he built tome off of zangband. :D

TheFalcon: I doubt it'll make much difference if he's not around to answer emails. I emailed him about wilderness generation a week or two ago, and no response...

IngeborgNorden: Heck, TheFury has helped me fork a standalone version of Norseband off Furyband...it's still in the alpha stage, but I'd rather test a "lite" version (with most of my flag ideas in place) before T-Engine 3 gets a stable build released. No reason the two can't exist side by side!
