Why T.o.M.E. ?
I started playing roguelikes a long time ago with Adom and Nethack.
I didn't know what was a roguelike so I kept dying all the time...
After I found that it isn't a normal game (like Diablo 
), I searched for a roguelike that hasn't time limit (like Adom), and not many silly thing (like Nethack): I found Angband and then ToME.
After many tries with ToME I decided to stick with it because it has so many things to discover and any game is not the same at all.
T.o.M.E. experiences
I haven't got a preferred race or class. Sometime I play fighter, sometime mages, depends on what I think at the moment.
I'd like to quickly gain the first 5-10 levels south of Bree (may be considered cheating...) and then venture into Barrow Downs, mainly because I almost always choose 98 random quests and sometimes 1st level quest are dangerous.
When I get some money I search Black Markets for any useful items each time I return to surface. Having some money to spare, gets me to destroy {average} items and below in order to sell only {good} items and above.
