- History
I began playing rogue-likes 5 years ago. Started with Angband, then ZAngband, then PernAngband, and then ToME. I have tried some other variants (of Angband) but never got too involved.
- Winners
- I've never won on *bands (perhaps because I did not play that much or I'm just a poor player). My only winners in ToME were a High-Elf Power-Mage (1.x) and a Death Mold Possessor (1.x). I'm currently playing 2.1.2 until I get another winner or when 3.0.0 is released, whichever happens first (though I have 2.2.x releases installed already). My current character is a Dark-Elf Thaumaturgist who is doing quite well at the moment (I hope he wins finally so I can try out the newer releases). My Dark-Elf Thaumaturgist recently won. Yay! I'm off to experimenting with other race-class combinations, focusing mostly with monks (stunning monsters is quite nice, don't know how useful it is later in the game).
- Game-Style
- I used to like playing Death Molds (Mimic or Possessor) because of the bonuses but started looking at other races when it was branded "experimental". My playing style back then was hack and slash. My favorite race now are Dark-Elves and my playing style relies more heavily on magic. My favorite class is Thaumaturgy (for the powerful offensive spells) and my favorite Vala is Eru (for the utility spells and Manathrust!).
- Ideas
Need to investigate a little more on this. Monster attack should be defined as a set of certain types of attack (i.e. claw, bite, hit, etc.) and a probability for each type, instead of a fixed series of attacks. Has certain benefits for possessors who make use of their body's inherent attacks.
