This policy page explains what rules are put in place by the site owner and host, what rules the wiki administrators will enforce, and in general how participants on this site are expected to behave. Please be understanding of our goals and obey this page.

If you wish to report a problem to an administrator, make sure to record exactly what page and version number is at issue. Go to the Info link (which appears in the list on the right in the default page style) and note the page version number on top of the list. Then take that information and note it on the Wiki Problems page.

ToME Wiki Policy

Personal Safety

This site is not a romantic forum, nor is it a site limited to adults. Material inappropriate for children, such as personal advances, is not allowed here.

Other Sites

Do not bring disputes, standard practices, or written materials from other sites without checking first. This wiki is its own page. This is not the ToME phpBB forum, nor is it wikipedia. Read this page and the Style Guide to see how we do things here.

Civility

Beyond basic safety, please do not be rude. Flamewars and tit-for-tat editwars are unacceptable.

Derogatory comments concerning race, religion, sexuality, nationality, politics, or the like will not be tolerated, even in fun.

Administrators should attempt focus on resolving problems quietly, attempting to educate before escalating to assertions of authority.

All participants are reminded that while this is an English langauge site, not everyone here speaks English equally well. Remember that some people might not have a clear command of English and might not understand just what they are saying. Readers with limited English should be extra careful not to misinterpret what others say.

Langauge issues aside, never assume malicious intent in an action that might have been taken in error or ignorance.

Content

Read the Style Guide and adhere to it. This will ease the workload of site administrators.

Obey the law

Do not place the administrator and host of this wiki in legal jeopardy by violating US copyright or other law. Copying entire works or large passages of works is forbidden, even from other ToME-related sites. The only exceptions are those allowed under US law, and of course the case when an author copies his own work from one place to another. Information about US Copyright law is available at http://www.copyright.gov/

Documentation

See the page /Documentation for special policy pertaining to game documentation on the wiki, and related discussion.

Chatter

NeilStevens: All done. Did I miss anything?

MayLith: Well done. I imagine this page will evolve as the need arises. Re: Obey the law, we might want to further define 'large' passages and/or discuss at what point rewriting becomes plagiarism. (See the recent changes comments on Spoilers/Skills/Prayer by ReenenLaurie for an example of what concerns me.)

MayLith: Added documentation policy.

ReenenLaurie: I didn't mean it as plagiarism. Though I won't deny that it was definately strongly based on the spoiler of zizzo (and not the source), I did (attempt) to bring something new to it (easier readability and understandability for people less skilled in pseudo code). I'll add a comment to indicate my source.

MayLith: Sorry if it sounded that way, but I wasn't accusing you of that. (If I had thought that was what it was, I would have already summarily deleted it.) My main concern is this: Where do you draw the line? Zizzo has created a wonderful website. I simply want to make sure that no one takes advantage of what he (or others) has done. Thank you for mentioning the source.

SoulWynd: Easiest way to avoid plagiarism is to quote your sources. If you based your work on something or edited someone else's work, mention the source. The hardest way is to hide them very well ;)

ReenenLaurie: You spent too much time at varsity. :)

NeilStevens: Defining "large" is a matter of copyright law, not wiki policy.'
