ToME WikiMayLith: One of the enduringly popular features on the ToME forum is the ability to create a poll. I don't know if there is a built-in capacity in wiki to make a poll, but I sincerely doubt it.
I've been thinking about it, and it seems to me that the simplest way to poll is just to set up your polling categories and each poller can edit the numbers to show their addition, then add comments underneath. That requires some integrity, but that's what wiki's all about, so I'm not too worried about that.
OTOH, it might be nice to set up a template to make it easier for a less experienced user to create an easily readable poll. For example (and this, I'm sure, can be improved upon):
Instructions: This is a poll template. These instructions, plus all items in CAPS below, should be replaced by the person creating the poll. Copy/paste additional table lines if needed. Do not add blank spaces to the ends of the table lines; they will cause the table not to format correctly. (additional info on how to go from template to a regular page)
Poll: TYPE YOUR QUESTION HERE.
Edit the number in the table below to indicate your response.

NeilStevens: the traditional way to do a poll in a wiki is to list the options:
- A
- B
- C
And then let everyone vote by editing the page and marking their choice, leading to something like this:
- A ++++
- B ++
- C +++++++

DarkGod: Isn't there a way to have a macro do that for you ? Like a "Vote Option 1" button that would automatically increase the number? That's utterly more user friendly IMO.
NeilStevens: Patches welcome. A bare poll isn't even that interesting anyway, I say. What really matters is the discussion following.
Note that the wiki, again, has a massive advantage over the forum: If the poll author omits an option, users can fill it in.
MayLith: That occurred to me, too (ability to fill in a new option.) And yes, the discussion following is always more interesting, but it's still enjoyable (imho) to see the statistical summary at the top.
