Moved: comment regarding difference between in-game and wiki (non-spoily) documentation.
modemcable219: Well an Errata would be nice. Something that says zombies don't get nether resistance in 2.2.7 as stated in help files and other errors and omissions. Nit picking documentation errors until perfection is a traditional wiki custom; once we get a good clean errata perhaps it can be added as a downloadable in-game help upgrade as errata.hlp or something?
Anything else that's technical rather than strategical the user should be able to get from the in-game help rather than wiki.
Some people will keep playing versions with a long-known documentation bug, they want their current character to actually be an ultimate winner. Those people would prefer an Errata, especially a downloadable in-game addition. But a wiki errata would be fine too.
In exemple I have my very first character that's not terminally affected by some misdocumentation-driven catastrophe (such as expecting racial bonuses for wands in 2.2.7 with a Hobbit hermit); I will not upgrade to versions not savegame compatible with 2.3 because I risk again having another character so flawed that it deserves a mercy deletion. I am highly motivated therefore to seek Erratas rather than download new documentation that may describe the new code rather than correct 2.3 errors.
NeilStevens: We already have a change log. Just fix errors as you find them in the Documentation section of the wiki and log them in the changelog.
MayLith: I agree. I would prefer, though, that non-admins don't interfere while we rework the Documentation. That is why I request that non-admin Documentation requests/changes be posted to wiki suggestions. Or not, whatever, but it'll just make more work for me.
NeilStevens: Well, exactly how long do you think it'll take to rework it? If the wiki ends up like CVS, with a bottleneck of a few developers, we gain nothing.
MayLith: Shouldn't be too bad. I want to get the framework straight, and what items stay in wiki, which are omitted, etc. If people start adding/filling out links before I can get it all rearranged, it will *slower* to finish, not faster. FearofFours and I are talking about it and assigning ourselves responsibilities. If we do start seeing some bottleneck, we can at that time post a work list.
"Just fix errors as you find them in the Documentation section of the wiki and log them in the changelog."
Da Alchemist: well I mentionned zombies aren't resistant to nether in the wiki documentation for zombie subrace. But where is the changelog??
MassimilianoMarangio: It's in Documentation/ChangeLog
MayLith: Da Alchemist: Please leave documentation, alone. Comment in suggestions instead. I am making daily changes in documentation (see above) and I would prefer you not to joggle my elbow for now. I am regularly moving around/editing big chunks. Comments listed in Suggestions (as I've requested) will be incorporated as necessary; I'll incorporate your zombie comment. Thanks.
Da Alchemist: I will ignore documentation from now on and concentrate somewhere else because of the constant change.
