XMPP Chat Room
To supersede the IRC channel, ToME has an XMPP chat room online. The room is called tome at the server conference.hakubi.us.
Enjoy.
For information on client software to use, see this list at jabber.org.
Chatter
ReenenLaurie: I couldn't get it to work. I was using "Gossip". I registered a new jabber client (reenen@jabber.org), but when I tried to connect, the error it gave was "could not authenticate"... now if I try to start gossip, it seg faults.
EricStevens: Sounds like Gossip may have some issues. You could try another client, like Pidgin. I don't use Gnome, but Pidgin works great for me under KDE and Win systems, and will work under Gnome too (when I'm forced to use it). It's also the closest thing to Adium I could find, which is an awesome client, but only for OS X.
NeilStevens: Well I really can't give support for that software or jabber.org accounts, not being in a position of development for the former or administration of the latter, so I don't know what to tell you.
WillShattuck: Make sure you are registered correctly at Jabber.org. In Pidgin I click Buddies > Add Chat. These are the settings I used to create the tome chat.
- Room: tome
- Server: conference.hakubi.us
Handle: <your username before @jabber.org>
- I do not enter a password
- I do not enter an alias
NeilStevens: You can use whatever handle you want by the way, though I would urge you to use a consistent one.
