Firinohtar is a quenya word for "Dead Warrior". My plan is to make him a Void-diver - and I think it may work. He seems to be the most powerful character I ever played and this is way before getting Grond (which hopefully will serve to defeat denizens of the Void). For a long time Mormegil's traits are only things that put Firinohtar's welfare to danger. I play with 63 random quests (despite what dump says) - for 2 purposes - I can't get skills at sufficient levels without lost sword quests, and random quests serve as measurement of power. Unfortunately, I was forced out of Crypt due to almost all sanity blasted by Beholder Hive-Mother (one of 20! (FF) ) while paralysed.
Anyway, I'd appreciate any advice, esp. for equipment. I removed home inventories (too long) from this dump, but you can assume that I can grab any fixed artifact to use.
Update: very nice vault netted me Nevrast, Thror, Gimli, which finally solved my problem "where to find good tools" - vaults in mainline dungeons are the answer. Oh, and this Mouse Fur of Air was there too
Guess no more skipping downs, mirkwood & mordor. I got my revenge on beholder hive-mothers (even twice - RNG tries to get me, but it has snowball's chance in nether realm). Mormegil happily sliced some nasty uniques - though from the top of the list (level 80+) only Pazuzu and Tarrasque won't appear anymore. On to equipment: Mormy is too deadly to myself - I rely now more on DSoW. I think I should carry Vampiric one for normal monsters, Mormy for toughies & Westernesse for Nazgul. I have new ring - more damage, less hits. I don't know if it's better choice than my previous (+6,+14). I missed my first GWoP half the time (it fell in 6 turns anyway, so it ain't bad). Palantir of Orthanc went in instead of Arkenstone - wow, I don't use Arkenstone! Telepathy is a must and now I can wear Elessar whole time, as well as regaining flying from boomerang. These new Machine boots are cool. I can't wait for 3.0.0, they will absolutely rock! All in all, my equipment is decent, I have covered everything but reflection and some fancy rare powers like precognition. Nice!
Oh, and I have a 'theme song' for this character - "Killer Of Giants" by Ozzy Osbourne. It seems proper for a 28-inch high guy
MayLith : I have never played an Unbeliever, so I have no idea what to suggest -- but best of luck to you!
ZV: thanks! I have got the win! Hurray! Not that I didn't expect this. Sauron went down effortlessly around 8 times before dropping the Ring and 1 time after
Morgy was sliced at first try. Now, with Grond, nothing on Middle-Earth can stop me. The most resilient monsters survive first round. I've hunted some Ringwraiths (and due to mysteriously losing Dark Sword of Westernesse, I had to punch Hormuarath to death), though 3 still escaped my wrath - Ren, Ji Indur and last but not least, Witch King. After they're dead I only need to stock some more power and launch into the Void. I hope Firinohtar won't get eaten there.
ZV: Melkor finally was a match for Firinohtar. The Void was quite easy - I could survive no matter the circumstances (except for Melkor's presence, that is). nether realm is another matter. I felt like a lost soul there. Some monsters were able to singlehandedly slice my poor character into pieces. Many, many retreats, stair scumming and all-powerful Grond sufficed to get through and kill the Wimp, oh, I mean Tikki in four rounds. Long time later, when Firinohtar crept out from Nether Realm to now all-friendly Void, I thought nothing can be worse. I'm not sure I could be escaping Morgoth's attacks, heal sanity and strike him back, destroying other monsters in the way and wear him down enough. Anyway, I had lots of fun playing this character. Not that particularly anti-magic was so cool, but my style has improved. And great ToME improved too
